Georgia is regarded as one of the best bets to reach the College Football Playoff. Much of the optimism in Athens is based on an offense that will be led on the field by quarterback JT Daniels. Last season, Daniels split duties with Stetson Bennett, but this season, it seems like the keys to the offense are entirely in his hands. In 2020, Daniels passed for 1,231 yards and 10 touchdowns with two interceptions. Daniels only took over the starting gig in the final four games of the Bulldogs in 2020, but in those games, Georgie averaged over eight points more than in their previous games. Georgia’s defense saw losses over the offseason but it’s got new talents to replenish the stop unit that allowed just 20.0 points and 321 total yards per game last season, 18th and 11th in the nation, respectively.
The over is 4-1 in Georgia’s last five games overall.
Betting on the Clemson Tigers (-3)
Record: 0-0 Overall / 0-0 Conference
Gone is Trevor Lawrence for Clemson, but the Tigers know what they have someone special in D.J. Uiagalelei to replace the now-Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback. Uiagalelei showed he can the future for Clemson when he played well in two starts in lieu of Lawrence in the 2020 season. And while Clemson also lost running back Travis Etienne to the NFL, the Tigers shouldn’t worry too much about the talent left for their rushing attack. The triumvirate of Kobe Pace, Will Shipley, and Lyn-J Dixon is dependable enough to continue the success the team has been having on the ground the past years. Georgia’s defense remains formidable but it might take more time for it to adjust against the pass, especially, after losing four starters.
Clemson, which averaged 43.0 points and 511.2 total yards in 2020, is 3-1 against the spread in its last four games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Clemson wins, 29-24.
