Betting on the Golden State Warriors (35-9)
The Warriors are unstoppable on the road. After beating the Chicago Bulls in Windy City 119-112 last Wednesday, the Warriors are now 14-0 SU in their last 14 road games, tying a franchise record. They will look to set a new mark and, at the same time, extend their overall win streak to five games this Saturday in Houston, where they have already won on Jan. 4, 124-114, even without Kevin Durant who was then nursing a calf injury. Durant is healthy now, though, so the Warriors are going to be at their deadliest form in the third meeting this season with Houston. Durant is behind Stephen Curry on the team in scoring leadership with 26.2 points per game. The Warriors have the best offense in the NBA with 115.9 points per game. Their attacks are often predicated on ball-movement, as they are also tops in the league with 30.5 assists per contest. In addition, the Warriors are also No. 1 in field goal percentage (50.1%).
Betting on the Houston Rockets (30-11)
James Harden is finally back for the Rockets after missing seven games due to a left hamstring strain. The bearded scoring-and-assist machine announced his return by scoring just 10 points on a salty 3-of-15 shooting from the floor with seven assists on 26 minutes of action, albeit in a 116-98 home win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday. It’s not a good game for Harden, though he could only be starting to get his legs back after a long absence. Assuming he’s shaken off the rust, Harden should fare better against the Warriors. Harden did not also play in the previous meeting with Golden State because of the hamstring issue, but scored 27 points back during a 122-121 win against the Warriors way back in the season opener.
Similar to the Warriors, Houston boasts of a soul-crushing offense that ranks second in the league with 114.7 points per game, so the Rockets are one of the few teams who could keep in step with the Warriors’ firepower. Houston is 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS in it last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction:
Golden State extends their road game win streak to 15 games with a 118-113 win over the Rockets.
