Once again, the Golden State Warriors tormented the Houston Rockets, who must be incredibly frustrated at themselves following another loss in the series on Tuesday. The Rockets, however, will finally get their turn to host the series this coming Saturday, with their focus solely on trying to prevent falling down to the dreaded 3-0 playoff hole. Betting on the Golden State Warriors (57-25 Regular Season)
The Warriors will go to Houston with a 2-0 cushion, which is quite a luxury for a team that’s deemed the favorite to win the NBA title. In Game 2, Kevin Durant continued to exploit the opposing defense, scoring 29 points on 9-for-22 shooting in 44 minutes. Durant has repeatedly proven in these playoffs that there’s little the opposing team can do about his scoring, as he’s currently averaging 35.0 points so far in the postseason. As a team, the Warriors are putting up 121.6 points per game on 50.2 field goal percentage in the playoffs. They’re better offensively when away from the Bay Area, as the Warriors have made 124.7 points on 51.7 percent shooting in three road games in the playoffs.
The over is 3-1 in Golden State’s last four road games, covering the spread twice over that stretch. After a win this season, the Warriors aren’t exactly stellar against the spread (ATS), going 25-35-1 ATS, covering just 41.7% of the time.
Betting on the Houston Rockets (53-29 Regular Season)
With a scratched eye, James Harden tried his best, but came up short in Game 2. It was still an admirable performance for Harden, who should benefit from a long rest between Game 2 and Game 3. Harden shot 9-for-19 from the field and finished with a team-high 29 points to go with seven rebounds and four assists. He committed six turnovers, and he’ll have to be wiser in choosing when to pull the trigger and when to attack, as the Rockets need to be more efficient with their possessions in order to keep in step with Golden State. The Rockets had 18 turnovers to just 12 by the Warriors in Game 2. Golden State had nine more points off Houston’s errors than the Rockets had converted from the Warriors’, 24-15. It’s good for the Rockets to see Clint Capela wake up in Game 2 after a poor showing in the previous contest. He had a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds on Tuesday.
The Rockets are 7-2-1 against the spread (ATS) in its last 10 home games, and are 14-15-1 ATS after a loss this season, covering 48.3% of the time.
Writer’s Prediction
Golden State wins, 120-114.
