Betting on the Golden State Warriors (40-7)
Golden State will carry an NBA-best 40-7 record, including a last night’s 144-98 molestation of the Clippers, into Oregon.
The Warriors’ already bested the Trail Blazers in the first three meeting this season and a sweep appears inevitable if Stephen Curry goes off again. The reigning two-time MVP finished with 43 points and had nine three-pointers in the win versus LA, while Kevin Durant pitched in 23 points, four boards and seven assists on yet another efficient shooting night (9-of-11 from the field). Both also combined for 65 points earlier this month against/at Portland.
Still, Golden State may lose this game because of two potential reasons: the team is playing the second game of a back-to-back and will be dealing with one of the league’s top backcourt tandems in Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum.
The Dubs are 9-1 SU and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 encounters with Portland.
Betting on the Portland Trail Blazers (21-27)
Portland’s won its last three contests, but that’s not enough to put the momentum on its side in this regular-season finale with the Warriors.
The Trail Blazers have lost the past five meetings in this matchup, and don’t have a proven defense to shut down Golden State’s league-leading offense. But they do have Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum to lead them and, hopefully, make this game close down the stretch. The two guards are averaging 26.3 and 23.4 points, respectively, this season.
Lillard, in particular, has found the mark in Portland’s current three-game run. He’s putting up 28.3 points during that stretch. Lillard also boasts a career 25.0 PPG against the Warriors.
Rip City is 5-5 SU and ATS in its last 10 home games.
