Betting on the Houston Astros (1-0)
Coming off a nice start to their 2016 campaign, the Astros now aim to go 2-0 to begin their season. Houston, which defeated the Yankees 5-3 on Tuesday, will have Collin McHugh on the mound for the second game of this three-game set.McHugh will make his season debut looking to remain unblemished against the Yankees thus far in his career. McHugh has two starts versus the Bronx Bombers under his belt, allowing just three earned runs on seven hits across 14.1 total innings. Both those starts happened just last year so McHugh will face almost the same Yankees lineup later tonight. The current set of Yankees hit just a collective average of .143 against McHugh, who finished last season with a 19-7 record and a 3.89 ERA and 1.28 WHIP.
McHugh had one start in Yankee Stadium last season, pitching 6.1 innings and allowing two earned runs on five hits in a 6-2 win on August 26.
McHugh is hoping the Astros’ offense will back him up after receiving 5.79 runs support per nine innings pitched last season.
Jose Altuve had his usual game going on Tuesday, going 2-for-4 at the plate. Altuve is 2-for-6 in his career against Yankees starter Michael Pineda. Carlos Correa also went 2-for-4, including a homer, in Game 1 against the Yankees. He went 2-for-3 (two doubles) opposite Pineda last year.
Houston is 4-2 in McHugh’s last six road starts.

Betting on the New York Yankees (0-1)
After losing to Houston in the season opener, the Yankees will look to finally get into the win column when they start Michael Pineda tonight.
Pineda had a topsy-turvy 2015 season in which he went 12-10 with a 4.37 ERA across 27 starts. He was on top of his game in the first half of that season, going 9-5 with a 3.64 ERA, before plunging down following the midseason break with a 3-5 record and a 5.80 ERA.
Pineda went 0-2 with a 4.42 ERA in two starts last season versus Houston, but the Yankees are hoping the right-hander’s good side will show up later tonight. Despite his poor general numbers against Houston, he did have a decent outing versus the Astros in 2015. Pineda pitched for eight innings on June 28 of that year, allowing two earned runs on seven hits while fanning eight, albeit in a 3-1 road loss.
Jacoby Ellsbury went hitless on four at-bats on Tuesday. The Yankees need production atop the batting order to add value to the bats of Carlos Beltran and Brian McCann, who had a combined 2-for-7 line in Game 1 of the series. Starlin Castro, meanwhile, hit 1-for-3 with an RBI in his first game as a Yankee.
New York is 4-2 in Pineda’s last six home starts.
