Betting on the Kansas Jayhawks

Ranked No. 3 in the AP Poll entering the new season, Kansas will parade a new lineup with a nice group of upperclassmen and a highly touted freshman in the mix that make the Jayhawks among the favorites to win the Big 12 and the national title. They are +1,000 to end up as the last team standing in next March’s national tournament.

There were some losses over the summer that hurt the program but with the likes of Frank Mason III and Devonte’ Graham still in the fold, the Jayhawks still have a solid backcourt that is considered as the fulcrum of the team this season.

Mason and Graham averaged 12.9 PPG and 11.3 PPG, respectively, in 2015 and were two of the top three three-point shooters for the team having combined for 118 of the team’s 304 threes. They should get help from the wing with small forward and No. 1 recruit Josh Jackson expected to have an Andrew Wiggin-ish season. With those players taking charge, the Jayhawks’ offense should be able to cause plenty of troubles for opponents just like last season when they averaged 81.6 PPG and was ranked 10th in offensive efficiency by KenPom.com.

Betting on the Indiana Hoosiers

It’s just November but it must feel like March for the Hoosiers later tonight, when they take on a national championship contender in the form of Kansas. Same goes for Kansas, which should have its hands full dealing with Tom Crean’s boys.

The Hoosiers’ chances of winning the conference title lies heavily on how good sophomore big man Thomas Bryant will be this season. Bryant was considered ready to make a jump to the pros after averaging 11.9 PPG and 5.8 RPG but decided for at least one more year in Bloomington. Bryant will be complemented by excellent scorers in the perimeter with the tandem of junior shooting guard James Blackmon and Pittsburgh transfer Josh Newkirk. Blackmon put up 15.8 PPG last year while shooting 48% from the floor. Newkirk, meanwhile, will help cover the hole left by Yogi Ferrell. Newkirk brings speed and athleticism to Indiana’s backcourt and he’ll make an immediate impact to the Hoosiers, who led the Big Ten in scoring.
