The Seattle Seahawks are in what seems to be a transitional phase, as they look to bridge themselves from the Legion of Boom era to a new one. Speaking of a change in landscape, the Indianapolis Colts are also getting used to one, with Frank Reich taking over as the team’s new head coach. To add more intrigue to Thursday’s game, three-time Pro Bowl quarterback Andrew Luck is expected to make his first appearance in a live-game setup since the 2016 season.

Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (+3)
It’s been a while since Andrew Luck was last seen on the field, as he missed the entire 2017 season with a shoulder injury. He’s on pace to return to action this year, but before he makes his first regular season start, he’ll first take snaps this Thursday in the preseason match against the Seahawks. According to new Colts head coach Frank Reich, Luck will play “about a quarter,” so that’s one thing to keep an eye on. Knowing how vulnerable Luck is now, the Colts spent a first round pick this year to draft offensive guard Quenton Nelson. Nelson will show how much improved the Colts’ offensive line is with him in tow. The Colts are looking for a new starter at the running back position following the departure of veteran Frank Gore. Who will inherit Gore’s role will be a tossup among the likes of Marlon Mack, Robert Turbin, and a pair of rookies in Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins.
Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (-3)
The Legion of Boom is no longer a thing in Seattle. The departure of Richard Sherman and the neck injury to Kam Chancellor have ended the run of the legendary defensive core. Michael Bennett and Sheldon Richardson are also gone, while Earl Thomas remains holding out. Now, the Seahawks are hoping Shaquill Griffin will emerge as among the leaders of the secondary following a solid rookie campaign. The Seahawks will also sort out the pecking order in the backfield. Chris Carson and rookie Rashaad Penny will mainly contest for the starting job, while Mike Davis, CJ Prosise, and JD McKissic battle for the deeper backup roles. It would not also be a surprise if Russell Wilson get a few snaps this Thursday, as he tries to develop further chemistry with some of his new teammates like rookie tight ends Will Dissly and Clayton Wilson.
Writer’s Prediction
Colts win, 24-17.
