Regular Season Record: 37-39
Paul George has risen. After a very long absence (three months), PG3 finally played again Tuesday, leading the Clippers to a 121-115 home win over the Utah Jazz. George struggled early in the contest but it did not take too long for him to get into a rhythm. He finished with 34 points on 10/20 shooting, including six 3-pointers. With that kind of performance after such a long layoff, more can be expected from George going forward. This Thursday, George will get the Bulls, against whom he scored 25 points to go with 11 rebounds, albeit in a 100-90 home loss last November. The Clippers have been more than decent during the course of George’s absence and now that one of their superstars is back, better things can be expected of this team that is also being kept afloat by its defense.
The Clippers, who are eighth in the NBA in adjusted defensive rating, are 4-3 against the spread in their last seven games as the home team.
Betting on the Chicago Bulls (odds)
Regular Season Record: 44-32
Powered by DeMar DeRozan, the Bulls were able to get back in the win column by defeating the Washington Wizards on the road last Tuesday, 107-94. DeRozan dropped 32 points on the Wizards to gain sole ownership of the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference standings. Nikola Vucevic also came up big with 27 points, and he’ll now be looking forward to torching the Clippers inside after missing a chance earlier this season. Vooch was not around when Chicago beat the Clippers, but the Bulls were able to come through thanks to DeRozan and Zach LaVine scoring 35 and 29 points, respectively. The Bulls are widely known to struggle against elite teams this season, which the Clippers certainly aren’t. The better side of Chicago should show up in this game.
The Bulls, who are 12th in the NBA with 111.5 points per game, are 2-1 against the spread in their last three road contests versus the Clippers.
Writer’s Prediction
The Bulls win, 102-94.
