Betting on the Las Vegas Raiders (-3)

Regular Season Record: 5-2

The Raiders entered their bye in Week 8 following a sweet 33-22 victory over the Philadelphia Eagle at home in Week 7. The team has gone 2-0 since Jon Gruden and the Raiders parted ways, so momentum is clearly on the side of New York for this Week 9 matchup. If Las Vegas is at all negatively affected by the Gruden situation, it simply is not reflected by the Raiders’ offense which has put up at least 33 points in each of the team’s last two games. Despite missing star tight end Darren Waller in Week 7 because of an ankle issue, the Raiders were still able to get their passing attack going. Derek Carr passed for 323 yards and a couple of touchdowns plus an interception on 31/34 completions. Foster Moreau capitalized on the absence of Waller and had 60 receiving yards plus a TD on six catches. Waller is expected to play this week, considering he was close to taking the field in Week 7. Josh Jacobs is questionable with a chest injury, and if he can’t go, the Raiders will lean mostly on Kenyan Drake for yards on the ground against the Giants.

The Raiders are 5-1-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 7 games in Week 9.

Betting on the New York Giants (+3)

Regular Season Record: 2-6

The Giants came close to beating the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium last Monday but ultimately fell short in a 20-17 loss. Saddled with injuries to key players, the Giants still got 222 passing yards and two touchdowns with a pick from Daniel Jones on 22/32 completions. Help could be on the way, though, as running back Saquon Barkley appears to be close to returning. The Raiders’ pass defense has been among the softest in the league, as it is just 29th with 131.3 rushing yards allowed per game, and that’s something Barkley or Devontae Booker can take advantage of. There is also something to be said about the Giants’ defense that also had his moments against Mahomes. New York is 11th in the NFL with an interception rate of 2.38%.

The Giants are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games in November.

Bet on the NY Giants

Writer’s Prediction

The Raiders win, 24-22.
