LeBron James vs. Charles Barkley – What’s the beef?

We love seeing celebrities go at it especially if both sides have legendary status. Just two titans clashing and throwing verbal haymakers at each other. That’s why this feud between Charles Barkley and LeBron James has gotten everybody’s attention. It escalated as quickly as the Cleveland Cavaliers have plummeted this month of January in which they went 7-8.  Here’s a brief rundown of what has already transpired.

LeBron James vs. Charles Barkley Feud

With Cleveland struggling and LeBron being dismayed by the lack of a playmaker on the team, the last thing The King wants is hear Barkley yapping at him. And that’s exactly what Barkley did last week when he called LeBron “inappropriate” and “whiny” for demanding the Cavs’ front office to make moves while in the middle of the season.

So on Monday after the Cavs lost to Dallas, LeBron finally exploded. That Cleveland couldn’t stop a guy named Yogi Ferrell was the last compound needed by LeBron’s patience to snap and go off at Barkley, firing back at the TNT analyst with a flaming diatribe.

“I’m not going to let him disrespect my legacy like that,” James told ESPN regarding Barkley. “I’m not the one who threw somebody through a window. I never spit on a kid. I never had unpaid debt in Las Vegas. I never said, ‘I’m not a role model.’ I never showed up to All-Star Weekend on Sunday because I was in Vegas all weekend partying.”

Wow. LeBron really did his research.

This wasn’t the first time LeBron tasted criticism from Barkley, who had questioned before LeBron’s case for eventually becoming a top five player all-time. Barkley isn’t the type of guy who’ll just take harsh personal retorts silently so as expected, he replied to LeBron’s tirades, albeit with less sizzle.

“I stick by what I said, I’m not going to make this personal … he was all whiny last week,” Barkley told the Waddle & Silvy show on ESPN Radio last Tuesday. “I’m good and I’m straightforward, I’m never going to get personal on an NBA player,” Barkley added.

Barkley’s going to say what’s on his mind even if it meant jeopardizing his career as a TV personality. Chuck’s gonna Chuck. LeBron, on the other hand, would be better off minding how his Cavs will get themselves out of a rut. Winning takes care of everything.
