Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (1-4)
The Los Angeles Chargers received their first win under their new name and location as they were able to snap a nine-game losing streak putting an 27-22 upset win against the New York Giants. Los Angeles has all of the pieces on the offense for success, yet it has taken some time for them to put together this difficult puzzle.
Quarterback Philip Rivers is putting together a impressive resume as he finished last week’s game with 258 passing yards and led the Chargers to a game leading touchdown drive with a 10-yard touchdown pass with three minutes left in the game.
He has had a good career against the Raiders as he is 14-8 against them and has thrown for 245.5 ypg with 37 TDs and 18 INTs while posting a 93.0 QBR against them. That running game really needs to continue to play well as it opens up throwing lanes for Rivers to hit some big plays downfield.
Betting on the Oakland Raiders (2-3)
The Denver Broncos will be coming off a bye week after taking down rivals Oakland Raiders 16-10 over two weeks ago. With the well rested time off, expect the Broncos who currently sit at second place in the AFC West to try and climb their way to the top and pass the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs. Just like New York, Denver has a tough mountain to climb to get over the undefeated Chiefs.
The Broncos only true opponent in the division looks to be the Chiefs as the Los Angeles Chargers have only picked up win win, and the Oakland Raiders have dropped three consecutive games.
Quarterback Trevor Siemian will be put to the test as their last 11 games will have seven road games. On the season, Siemian sits with a 62.7 % completion rate with seven touchdowns and four interceptions. One of the brighter moments of this offense has been running back C.J. Anderson who has totaled 330 rushing yards on 73 carries on the season.
The Oakland Raiders were missing their glue on offense as they were unable to win without quarterback and leader Derek Carr, but Carr has made a fast recovery from his back injury and will be able to face his rivals Los Angeles Chargers. The Raiders still have high hopes of having a successful year as they have a high-powered passing game that needs to be used.
Oakland got off to a fast 2-0 start on the season, but have last three game in a row with the offense struggling to find their groove. However with Carr back in the huddle, expect the Raiders to find their offense burst once again.
On the season, Carr has thrown for 753 yards with seven TDs and just two INTs on the year while posting a career high 101.2 QBR. Carr has gone 4-2 against the Bolts in his career and has made them pay for it. He has thrown for 246.2 ypg with 11 TDs and four INTs in those games.
Writer’s Prediction:
It’s going to be a high scoring game as Rivers and Carr will be going back and forth, but it comes down to who has the better offense. Advantage Oakland. Pick: Raiders
