The 2020 NBA Finals is not done yet. A new champion is yet to be crowned after the Miami Heat forced a Game 6 with a win against the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 5. The Lakers are so close to lifting another Larry O’Brien Trophy, but the Heat just would not go away. The Heat can extend the series to a Game 7 with a win this Sunday. But will the Lakers allow that to happen?

The Lakers saw LeBron James explode for 40 points on 15-of-21 shooting from the field in Game 5, but his exploits on offense were not enough for the Lakers to avoid a 111-108 loss to Miami. James did almost everything right in that game, but whether he made the right decision to pass the ball or not in that crucial, late-game possession, what’s not debatable is that the bench had to do more if the Lakers are to pull off a win and end the series this Sunday. Marcus Morris, whose brain cramped up in the last Lakers’ possession, scored zero points, while Kyle Kuzma, Rajon Rondo, and Alex Caruso combined for just 14 points on 5-of-20 shooting from the floor. James is going to provide his share on offense no matter what, but the Lakers’ supporting cast will have to show up with a collectively great effort, especially if Anthony Davis’ foot injury slows his down in Game 6. Davis hurt his foot in Game 5, but is expected to play. He had 28 points and 12 rebounds back in Friday’s loss.
The under is 4-2 in the Lakers’ last six games as the road team.
Betting on the Miami Heat (+5)
Regular Season Record: 44-29
It’s easy to say that the Heat’s win in Game 5 was all about Jimmy Butler. After all, he put up a memorable performance by scoring 35 points to go with 11 assists and 12 rebounds in 47 minutes of action. But what shouldn’t be forgotten is Duncan Robinson’s huge contribution. Robinson sank seven triples on his way to a 26-point night. Robinson creates so much offensive opportunity for the Heat with his presence alone, as he can stretch the floor better than anyone in this series. The Heat went 14-of-33 from beyond the arc in Game 5, and they are hoping they’d be just as hot from there to keep the Lakers’ defense stretched enough for Butler to unleash his full mid-range repertoire. So far in the Finals, Butler is averaging 29.0 points, 10.2 assists, and 8.6 rebounds per game. He is also shooting 55.6 percent from the field, though, just 27.3 percent from deep.
The Heat are 4-0 against the spread in their last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Heat win, 112-109.
