Betting on the Los Angeles Rams (-3)
Regular Season Record: 10-4
Here comes Los Angeles. The Rams won their third game in a row Tuesday night against the Seattle Seahawks at home, 20-10. That game all boiled down to the greatness of wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who torched the Seahawks’ defense for 136 receiving yards and two touchdowns on nine receptions and 13 targets. The Rams’ ground attack also showed up, with Sony Michel pacing LA with 92 rushing yards on 18 carries. Los Angeles’ offense can go off on any given Sunday. The Rams are top five in the NFL in scoring defense and top 10 in total offense going into Week 15. With Matthew Stafford, Van Jefferson, Sony Michel, and Darrell Henderson, the Rams have enough bullets to break Minnesota’s vulnerable defense.
The Rams are 3-0 against the spread in their last three games overall.
Betting on the Minnesota Vikings (+3)
Regular Season Record: 6-7
The Vikings are also on a roll, sort of. They are now on a 2-0 streak after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers at home in Week 14, 36-28, and the Chicago Bears on the road in Week 15, 17-9. The win over the Bears was an ugly one for Minnesota, as the Vikings kept failing on third downs. But the Vikings delivered when it mattered the most, especially their defense that held Chicago to only 2/12 on third downs and forced the Bears to commit three turnovers. Kirk Cousins is having a silent great season even though he threw an interception in the Bears game. On the season, Cousins has thrown for 3.656 yards with 29 touchdowns and only six interceptions.
The Vikings are 5-0-1 against the Rams in these two teams’ last six meetings, dating back to 2009.
Writer’s Prediction
The Rams win, 27-23.
