Betting on the Louisville Cardinals (odds)
Record: 3-19 Overall/1-10 Conference
There’s no denying that Louisville is one of the worst teams in the nation. But at least, the Cardinals were good enough to cover the spread in their last outing, which was an 81-78 home loss to the Florida State Seminoles last Saturday. In fact, the Cardinals have covered the spread in their last two outings, having also scored their first win in ACC play on Feb. 1 when they took down the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at home, 65-58. Senior point guard El Ellis is the best player of the Cardinals, and he’s also the only player on the team averaging double-digits in points (17.3). He had 19 in Louisville’s 75-54 home loss to the Panthers last month.
Louisville is 6-4 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.
Betting on the Pittsburgh Panthers (odds)
Record: 16-7 Overall/9-3 Conference
The Panthers won their third game in a row last Thursday when they took care of business in a thrilling 65-64 win in Chapel Hills versus the North Carolina Tar Heels. The senior tandem of Nelly Cummings and Jamarius Burton teamed up to lead Pittsburgh in that contest, scoring 21 and 19 points, respectively. Those two and the other Panthers can have fun again on offense against Louisville, which has a leaky defense that is allowing 74.7 points per game (279th in the nation). Louisville opponents are also posting a 53.6 eFG% – just 312th overall.
Pittsburgh is 7-3 against the spread in its last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Pittsburgh wins, 79-57.
