The No. 22 Loyola-Chicago Ramblers stand alone on top of the Missouri Valley Conference, but that doesn’t mean they are safe from any upsets against their competition in the league. The Drake Bulldogs are still a dangerous team even though they are coming off their first loss of the season. Check out our preview of this game below.

Betting on the Loyola Chicago Ramblers (odds)
Record: 17-3 Overall / 12-1 Conference
Loyola-Chicago extended its winning streak to 10 games after beating the Evansville Purple Aces last Sunday, 69-58. The Ramblers’ offense has simply been incredible this season. They are tops in the Missouri Valley Conference with an adjusted offensive efficiency of 114.3 points per 100 possessions and No. 1 as well in the league in assists with 15.8 dimes per contest. An unselfish and efficient team like that is going to go places — or at least make opponents sweat defensively. Speaking of which, Loyola-Chicago’s defense is just as terrific as its scoring attack. Loyola-Chicago is 29th in the nation with 63.6 points allowed per game. Drake is a decent 3-point shooting team but the Bulldogs might have to work harder on their outside shots against Loyola-Chicago’s defense that is holding opponents down to just 31.5 percent shooting from deep.
Loyola-Chicago is 7-2-1 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.
Betting on the Drake Bulldogs (odds)
Record: 18-1 Overall / 9-1 Conference
Having an undefeated season is not part of God’s plan for Drake, obviously. The Bulldogs suffered their first loss of the season last Sunday at the hands of the Valparaiso Crusaders to the tune of a 74-57 score on the road. Drake’s usually efficient offense seemed to have left the team in that game, as the Bulldogs shot just 36.5 percent from the floor, their worst so far this season, and were just 2 of 15 from behind the arc. The Bulldogs will look to recapture their high-scoring ways this coming weekend against Loyola-Chicago. Drake is 20th in the nation with 80.0 points per game on 49.8 percent shooting from the floor — ninth-best overall. Drake takes lots of shots inside the paint, as it is ninth with 60.0 percent of their field goal attempts being 2-pointers, but the Bulldogs are not afraid to let it fly from deep. They are shooting 37.5 percent from long range this season. The Bulldogs are also defensively sound, as they are allowing only 63.6 points per game
Writer’s Prediction
Loyola-Chicago wins, 70-66.
