Betting on the Dayton Flyers (odds)
Record: (17-9 Overall/9-4 Conference
In their most recent outing, the Flyers scored a 70-56 win at home over the Saint Louis Billikens last Friday. Toumani Camara led the way for Dayton in that game with 17 points to go with 10 rebounds, while DaRon Holmes II added 15 points and seven rebounds. Holes and Camara are the 1-2 punch combo of the Flyers, with the two big men able to consistently produce on offense. Harmon is averaging 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, while Camara is putting up 14.0 points and grabbing 9.3 boards per contest. Camara had 31 points and nine rebounds in Dayton’s 85-81 home win over Loyola Chicago late last January. As a team, Dayton is having success with an offense ranked No. 1 in the Atlantic 10 conference with 110.0 points per 100 possessions adjusted.
Dayton is 3-2 against the spread in its last five games.
Betting on the Loyola Chicago Ramblers (odds)
Record: 8-16 Overall/2-10 Conference
Loyola Chicago will be taking on the Massachusetts Minutemen this Tuesday before facing the Flyers on Friday. Regardless of what happens versus Massachusetts, the Ramblers are not in a good position in the A-10 standings. They are coming off back-to-back losses to the Saint Joseph’s Hawks at home (83-71) and then to the Richmond Spiders (74071) last Saturday on the road. There is still good talent on this team, though. Take for example Philip Alston, who is leading the Ramblers in scoring with 14.5 points per game average and an excellent 41.8 3FG%. He had 22 points with four 3-pointers in nine attempts from deep in the loss to Dayton, which needed overtime to finish. The Ramblers were competitive in that game and they could be even better this time around with the rematch set at their home court.
Loyola Chicago is 2-1 against the spread in its last three home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Dayton wins, 74-65.
