Betting on the LSU Tigers (11-6, 4-1 SEC)

[sc:NCAAB240banner ] At long last, the LSU Tigers are living up to the expectations after splitting its first eight games of the 2015-16 season. Since then, they’ve won seven of their next nine and are sitting at second spot in the conference. The Tigers will now look to continue their fine form against the 10th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies.

All eyes are undoubtedly going to be on their all-around freshman in Ben Simmons. The 6-foot-10, 240-pound forward is doing almost everything for the Tigers, leading them in points (20.0), rebounds (12.9) and assists (5.1) this season. He also heads into this matchup with 12 double-doubles already under his belt. But Simmons might have his work cut out for him opposite an Aggies defense that’s yielding just 64.8 points per contest.

That said, the pair of Keith Hornsby and Craig Victor II will have to carry some of the scoring load in this one as well. Both have been providing solid numbers for the Tigers this year with 14.2 PPG and 13.6 PPG respectively. Hornsby, in particular, should be able to torch the Aggies with long-range bombs as he’s shooting the rock at 42.2% from the three-point line.

LSU is 3-7 SU and 4-6 ATS in its previous 10 road games.

Betting on the Texas A&M Aggies (15-2, 5-0 SEC)

LSU vs Texas A&M Basketball Predictions, Picks, Odds and Preview

Ever since losing to Arizona State on December 5, the Texas A&M Aggies have taken care of business in their next nine games. As a result, they hold an impressive 15-2 record and are off to a strong start in conference play at 5-0. The Aggies will try to sustain their momentum when they collide with the LSU Tigers at Reed Arena later.

The big contributors to their current success are none other than Jalen Jones and Danuel House, who are the team’s top point-getters this season.

Jones continues to lead the way with averages of 17.2 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting the ball at a respectable rate of 47.0 percent. He’s also quite deadly from beyond the arc at 43.8 percent.

House, on the other hand, has had a good share of moments across 16 games, posting 15.9 points and 4.8 rebounds. He’s finished in double figures in his previous three games, including back-to-back 20-point performances opposite Tennessee and Florida.

Both Jones and House should be able to post up their usual numbers later as they’ll be testing a pretty shaky LSU defense that’s surrendering 75.6 points and 7.5 three-pointers per game.

As for the defense, they are bound to have their hands full in locking up the likes of Ben Simmons and Keith Hornsby. The Aggies, who are committing 12.2 turnovers per outing, can’t afford to have too many mental lapses and miscommunications at this end of the floor if they wish to assure themselves the victory.

Texas A&M is 5-5 SU and 6-4 ATS in its last 10 meetings with the Tigers.

Writer’s Prediction

LSU’s (+8.5) offense continues to click and eventually provides just enough points to come away with the 75-69 win over the Aggies.
