The Michigan State Spartans and the Maryland Terrapins (both priced at +1500 to win the 2020 Championship) are going to see each other twice over the next two weeks. Their first date will come this Saturday in East Lansing, as the Spartans try to build a winning streak after snapping a losing skid. The Terps, on the other hand, will look to extend their unbeaten run and pad their lead atop the Big Ten standings.

Betting on the Maryland Terrapins (20-4 Overall / 10-3 Conference)
The Terps collected yet another win last Tuesday, downing the Nebraska Cornhuskers at home, 72-70 for their seventh win in a row, which also kept them without company atop the Big Ten standings. The Terps can’t be too happy with that win, though, as they can’t go deep in the national tournament by playing the way they did against Nebraska. Maryland shot 48.1 percent from the floor but went only 7 of 23 from deep while also turning the ball over 17 times. They had a 14-point lead at one point but allowed Nebraska to get back to the thick of things by playing sloppy. Maryland can get away with a win against teams like Nebraska, which is a sub-170 team on the NCAA’s Net Rankings, but they will need a much more polished performance against Michigan State, especially when considering that they’d be visiting East Lansing for that game.
The Terps, who are averaging 71.7 points per game, are 4-0 against the spread (ATS) in their last four road games.
Betting on the Michigan State Spartans (17-8 Overall / 9-5 Conference)
The Spartans escaped by the skin of their teeth a loss in Champaign last Tuesday, as they beat No. 22 Illinois Fighting Illini, 70-69. The Spartans entered that game under pressure to go home with a win after losing three games in a row. Xavier Tillman scored with just seconds remaining in the game to give the Spartans the lead for good then the team made a defensive end on the other side of the court to get the job done. Spartans guard Rocket Watts stepped up and led his team with 21 points. Watts’ eruption came when Michigan State needed it the most, with Cassius Winston slowed down by foul trouble. Winston finished with only 12 points with three steals in only 25 minutes. The Spartans were beaten by Illinois on the glass, 38-33 overall while giving up 14 offensive rebounds to their seven total. The Spartans, however, are a great rebounding team that is, in fact, seventh in the nation with 41.7 rebounds per game. They have good rim protection (5.3 blocks per game) that often cause opponents to take lower percentage shots. Opposing teams are shooting just 28.5 percent from deep this season.
The Spartans are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Michigan State wins, 72-69.
