Coming off a bye, the Pittsburgh Steelers get a “half-bye” in Week 8, as they will face the Miami Dolphins. But as shown by the Fins in Week 7, they can put up a scare. Will the Steelers avoid getting upset by Miami? Or will the Dolphins have a reason to party by defeating Pittsburgh?

Betting on the Miami Dolphins (0-6)
Sure, the Dolphins are still nowhere close to resembling an NFL team, but they definitely played their best football of the season in last Sunday’s 31-21 road loss to the Buffalo Bills. They even held the lead at the half. The nerve! But all jokes aside, the Dolphins are a better team with Ryan Fitzpatrick under center than Josh Rosen based on the team’s play last week. Fitzpatrick went 23 for 35 for 282 passing yards and a touchdown with an interception. There could also be a shift in the pecking order on the Dolphins’ backfield, with Mark Walton leading the team with 66 rushing yards on 14 carries. Walton’s usage against the Bills suggests that Miami is leaning towards giving him the ball more over Kenyan Drake and Kalen Ballage.
The Dolphins are still winless, but they have covered the spread in each of their last two games. The under is also 4-1 in their last five outings.
Betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-4)
It’s fair to expect that Mason Rudolph will be back as the starter of the Steelers in Week 8. Rudolph suffered a concussion in Week 5’s 26-23 overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens at home, which forced an undrafted rookie in Devlin Hodges to take over as the team’s quarterback in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Chargers on the road. Hodges turned out to be enough of a replacement for the Steelers to eke out a 24-17 win over LA. Rudolph has already passed the league’s concussion protocol, and he also had a bye in Week 7 to rest some more. With Rudolph expected to be back, the Steelers are also expecting better production from the team’s passing attack. That’s a nice thing to hear for JuJu Smith-Schuster, who was only targeted twice and finished with only seven receiving yards on a single catch in the Chargers game. The Steelers should have plenty of opportunities to light up the air and pile up on rushing yards against the Dolphins’ defense that has been as sturdy as a wall made up of burnt twigs.
The Steelers are 5-4-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Steelers win, 29-13.
