Betting on the Miami Hurricanes (+5.5)

Record: 15-3 Overall/6-2 Conference

Miami rebounded from an 83-81 road loss to the NC State Wolfpack last Saturday by taking down the Syracuse Orange Monday at home, 82-78. The Hurricanes haven’t been consistent of late, as they’re just 2-2 straight up in their last four games, but their offense just keeps on plugging away. Over their last four games, the Canes have averaged 80.5 points. On the season, Miami is 11th nationally with an adjusted offensive rating of 117.0 points and is also second in ACC play with a 52.8 FG%. The Hurricanes have a commanding presence inside the arc where they are connecting on 55.3% of their shots – tops in the ACC.

Miami is 6-4 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.

Betting on the Duke Blue Devils (-5.5)

Record: 13-5 Overall/4-3 Conference

It hasn’t been smooth sailing for Jon Scheyer in his first year as head coach of the Blue Devils, who already have five losses overall this season (three against ACC opponents). Duke is coming off a 72-64 road loss against the Clemson Tigers last Saturday, but a long rest in between that contest and this match-up against Miami should give the Blue Devils enough time to prepare against a Hurricanes team that owns a vulnerable defense. Miami is just 172nd in the nation with 69.9 points allowed per game and 145th with 102.2 points surrendered per 100 possessions.

The Over is 6-4 in Duke’s last 10 games overall.

Writer’s Prediction

Duke wins, 77-70.
