Betting on the Miami Hurricanes (odds)
Record: 15-4 Overall/6-3 Conference
Consistency is becoming more and more of a problem for Miami, which has gone 3-2 straight up since putting together a nine-game win streak. The Hurricanes are coming off a 68-66 road loss to the Duke Blue Devils, though, Florida State should be an easier one to take down. The Seminoles are simply not very good this season, as they are a sub-140 team, per KenPom, and just 207th overall on NET rankings. Miami’s usually prolific offense went cold versus the Blue Devils, but the Canes should find their touch again this Tuesday. For one, Florida State’s defense is poor, to say the least. It is allowing 73.8 points per game, just 264th overall in the nation. The Hurricanes, meanwhile, are ninth in the nation with 116.9 points per 100 possessions adjusted.
Miami is 3-1 against the spread in its last four games overall.
Betting on the Florida State Seminoles (odds)
Record: 7-13 Overall/5-4 Conference
As bad as the ‘Noles have been this season, at least they have momentum on their side heading into this upcoming showdown versus Miami. Florida State has won its last two games, beating the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (84-71) on Jan. 17th and the Pittsburgh Panthers (71-64) last Saturday, both away from home. Hopefully for the Seminoles, they can sustain that form when they play their first game in Tallahassee since Jan. 14’s home loss to the Virginia Cavaliers. The Seminoles’ offense has picked up greatly of late, having posted a 111.2 offensive efficiency unadjusted in their last 10 outings. Defensively, Florida State can be pretty stingy with their on-ball defense, as evidenced by its 11.6% block rate in conference play – fourth overall in the ACC.
Florida State is 7-3 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Miami wins, 81-74.
