The Michigan Wolverines had high hopes coming into this season, and although they can still reach all their goals this is a must win game for the team. After losing two weeks ago their rival Michigan State they struggled against The Indiana Hoosiers last week. Although they did come out ahead 27-20 they looked like a team that was maybe a .500 team not a team that was was trying to compete for a Big Ten Title.
One of the biggest issues for their team is their starting quarterback went down. Wilton Speight has a fractured vertebrae and will probably miss the rest of the season. Senior John O’Korn has taken over that role and has struggled with it. He has thrown for 563 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions.
In the last game against Indiana he only threw for 58 yards. It’s pretty clear the coaching staff doesn’t trust him, and that has really hurt the chances for the offense to perform with constant success.
Betting on the Penn State Nittany Lions 6-0 (-9.5)
On the other side of this match up is the Penn State Nittany Lions who have looked like they are the class of the Big Ten so far this year. Besides the game against Iowa where they needed a touchdown on the last play to win, they really haven’t had any trouble with the other games.
For the Nittany Lions they are dominant on both sides of the ball.
They come into this game averaging 39.7 points per game while only giving up nine points a game on the defensive side. In this game I would look for the defense to come out early and be aggressive.
They know that they can force some turnovers against the Wolverines and I would look for them to try and get them early and often. If they can force a few turnovers this game is going to get
ugly real early. On the offensive side this team just needs to play their game. The can exploit some of the holes in a defense for the Wolverines that hasn’t been as good as of late.
Writer’s Prediction
The Nittany Lions defense is going to have no problems creating turnovers in this one. The offense will get rolling early and that will lead to a game that they not only win, but them covering the spread. Pick: Penn State (-9.5)
