Betting on the Milwaukee Bucks (60-22 Regular Season)
Just when LeBron James packed his bags and left the Eastern Conference, along came a bigger, better, and badder version of Giannis Antetokounmpo, who unloaded once again on the Celtics on Friday. Antetokounmpo punched in 32 points, 13 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 blocks in Game 3’s 123-116 win at TD Garden. Antetokounmpo and the Bucks muscled their way in the paint, outscoring Boston, 53-24. Even if Boston wanted to clog the lanes on defense to make it harder for the Bucks to penetrate to the rim, that would come at a great risk, as Milwaukee is also a loaded with shooters, who drained 15 3-pointers in Game 3, including five from Nikola Mitotic and four from Pat Connaughton.
Antetokounmpo is averaging 26.9 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 4.0 assists so far in the series.
Milwaukee is 5-0 against the spread (ATS) in its last five road games. After a win this season, the Bucks are 34-27-4 ATS, covering 55.7% of the time.
Betting on the Boston Celtics (49-33 Regular Season)
The Celtics need to rediscover their identity. That’s after they played sloppy basketball on both ends of the floor in Game 3. While Kyrie Irving and Jayson Tatum flourished offensively, whatever wizardry they put up, it was wasted by the combination of Boston’s carelessness and porous defense. The Celtics had 18 turnovers which Milwaukee converted into 28 points. Boston’s bench will also have to roar back after getting outplayed in lopsided fashion by the Bucks’ relievers. Milwaukee got 42 points from its bench, while Boston got just 16.
Boston made 30 of 32 attempts from the foul line in Game 3.
The over is 6-4 in Boston’s last 10 home games. After a loss, the Celtics have one of the worst ATS records in the league this season, with a 14-20 post-loss ATS account, covering just 41.2% of the time.
Writer’s Prediction
Milwaukee wins, 117-114.
