Baltimore Orioles vs. Toronto Blue Jays (7:07 PM ET)
Line: Baltimore Orioles (+105) at Toronto Blue Jays (-115); total 8.0 – view all MLB lines
[sc:MLB240banner ]We have an intriguing pitching matchup tonight in Toronto, albeit in a game that means little. Baltimore’s Chris Tillman is 6-0 with a 1.79 ERA in his last 10 starts. However, he’s struggled against the Blue Jays. He allowed seven runs and three homers over five and two-thirds innings in his lone start in Rogers Centre.
Meanwhile, the Blue Jays will be starting Drew Hutchison who is 3-0 with a 0.96 ERA over his last four home starts. He only allowed one hit, a home run, in his previous home start against Baltimore.
Writer’s prediction: The Blue Jays beat Baltimore.
New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox (7:10 PM ET)
Line: New York Yankees (-105) at Boston Red Sox (-105); total 8.5 – view all MLB lines
Making his first and last start for the Boston Red Sox this season, rookie Steven Wright (0-0, 3.38 ERA) will have quite a challenge ahead of him. Wright will face the Yankees’ retiring Derek Jeter. The Yankees’ No. 2 hasn’t been slowed by his age, hitting .342 with nine RBIs over his past nine games. Jeter also owns a .364 average with 12 runs and 12 RBIs in his last 17 games at Fenway Park.
Writer’s prediction: Jeter jumps on Wright and leads a Yankees win.
Oakland Athletics vs. Texas Rangers (8:05 PM ET)
Line: Oakland Athletics (-170) at Texas Rangers (+150); total 8.0 – view all MLB lines
The Oakland Athletics suffered their fourth-straight loss to the AL-worst Texas Rangers courtesy of Adrian Beltre’s walk-off home run at the bottom of the ninth on Thursday. Things don’t look to get much better tonight with Scott Kazmir on the mound. The A’s starter surrendered four earned runs and a homer in a 6-3 loss to the Rangers on September 16. Meanwhile, the Texas Rangers are 9-1 in their last 10 games, including a 2-1 series win over the majors-leading Los Angeles Angels.
Writer’s prediction: The Rangers hammer the A’s.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (9:40 PM ET)
Line: St. Louis Cardinals (-163) at Arizona Diamondbacks (+148); total 7.5 – view all MLB lines
The St. Louis Cardinals have dropped three of their last four games, and are now in danger of losing the NL Central to the Pittsburgh Pirates. They’ll have a last-ditch chance to clinch their division when they go against the majors-worst Arizona Diamondbacks (63-96). The Cards’ Jhonny Peralta is 10 for 20 against the Dbacks and may find his stroke after going 2 for 13 during the team’s 1-3 run.
Writer’s prediction: The Cards keep their hold on NL Central with a win.
Los Angeles Angels vs. Seattle Mariners (10:10 PM ET)
Line: Los Angeles Angels at Seattle Mariners – view all MLB lines
The Seattle Mariners kept their postseason hopes alive with a 7-5 win over Toronto on Thursday. However, they continue their playoff run with a formidable challenge, welcoming the Los Angeles Angels for their final three-game set in the regular season. Seattle’s Logan Morrison is batting .360 with five homers in his last 16 games. However, he’s 0-for-6 against the Angels’ Jered Weaver.
Writer’s prediction: The Mariners stay alive at the Angels’ expense.
