The No. 12 Nevada Wolf Pack are heading into Utah State territory to face the Aggies in a Mountain West matchup this Saturday. Going into the game, NCAA basketball futures have kept Nevada consistent with +1800 odds (hasn’t changed in a month) to win the 2019 National Championship while Utah is barely in consideration with +50,000 to do the same. The sportsbook also favors the Wolf Pack in this meeting, but no bettor should count out the 23-6 Aggies, who are on a 5 game winning streak.

Betting on the Nevada Wolf Pack (26-2 Overall / 13-2 Conference)
Nevada dismissed Fresno State (74-68) and UNLV (89-73) in the seven days leading up to this Saturday’s Mountain West meeting with Utah State, although they lost to San Diego State prior to that. The Aggies on the other hand are on a five game winning streak.
When the Wolf Pack and Aggies met in back on January 2, and the home team (Nevada) defeated them in dramatic fashion. En route to the 72-49 victory, forward Jordan Caroline lead the team with just 15-points on 4/10 shooting, which shows the offensive depth of the rest of the squad, when they show up that is. As a team, Nevada shot 39.3% and went 24.1% from 3-point range. The Wolf Pack was by no means spectacular in that game, as their opponent simply couldn’t get it together on the offense and defensive end. Nevada won’t let them forget that this Saturday.
On the road so far this season, Nevada is 8-2 straight up (SU) and 7-4-1 against the spread (ATS). They are also 14-9-1 ATS after coming off of a win.
Betting on the Utah State Aggies (23-6 Overall / 13-3 Conference)
Utah State is feeling pretty good about themselves at the moment as they enjoy a five game winning streak. Interestingly, their most recent victim was San Diego State, who they confidently defeated 70-54. Remember, it was San Diego State that last beat Nevada (65-57) so you’d better believe that will be playing into the psyches of both squads coming into Saturday.
While Utah put together an embarrassing performance against Nevada back in January, the 23-point differential was not as bad as it seemed. For one, guard Sam Merrill’s 16-points was one notch greater than Nevada’s leading scorer that game. Plus, Utah out-rebounded Nevada 44-43. If they had pulled themselves together from the field and 3-point line they could have at least covered the spread. With Utah feeling the momentum going into this Saturday, you can expect a MUCH better offensive effort against the Wolf Pack.
At home so far this season, Utah State is 13-1 SU 9-5 ATS. The Aggies are also 12-10 ATS after a win.
Writer’s Prediction
Nevada wins, 77-75.
