New Orleans Saints vs Buffalo Bills Predictions, Picks, Odds and Betting Preview – NFL Week 10 2017

The New Orleans Saints are coming to Buffalo as 3-point favorites (opened at 2.5) over the Bills. The Saints improved their 2017 season record to 6-2 on Sunday in Week 9 with a 30-10 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The victory marked their sixth straight win since starting the season 0-2. New Orleans is 2-1 on the road this season taking down the Carolina Panthers and the Green Bay Packers.

The Bills on the other hand are 5-3 after losing to the NY Jets but are still deep in the AFC playoff picture. Buffalo started the season 4-0 at home but also have a pretty interesting streak going at the moment, having scored 20 or more points in 13 straight games at Ralph Wilson Stadium, the longest such “at home” streak in the league. While the Saints are favored, meteorological conditions (we’re talking low 40’s here) may work in the Bills favor, so keep your eyes on the local forecast and wager with the weather.

Betting on the New Orleans Saints (6-2)

Point Spread: (-3)

The New Orleans Saints are one of the hottest teams in the NFL. After losing the first two games of the year, the Saints have not lost in over a month. New Orleans most recently put up 30 points at home against a struggling Tampa Bay team. Drew Brees passed for 263 yards and two touchdowns. The two headed monster of Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara combined to rush for 145 yards on 26 rushes and one touchdown in last weeks win.

With the way Ingram and Kamara have been running the ball, they have a lot to do with why the Saints have one six in a row. New Orleans is averaging over 122 yards per game on the ground this year. Good enough for 7th in the NFL. Drew Brees has not had to shoulder the entire offensive load this season, which should be another reason the Saints have been able to get more wins this season.

Unlike years past, the Saints defense has been the difference maker, for all the right reasons this season. New Orleans is allowing 354 total yards per game in 2017. A ton better than last years unit. The Saints secondary has been much improved this year, they are allowing just 229 yards passing through nine games in 2017.

This week the Saints will have their hands full on the road. Weather could be a factor in this weeks matchup. If so, the Saints won their most recent cold weather game in Green Bay two weeks ago.

Betting on the Buffalo Bills (5-3)

Point Spread: (+3)

The Buffalo Bills continue to play above expectations this season. Buffalo is currently riding a one game loss. Buffalo lost at New York last Thursday night, 34-21. Hopefully for the Bills, the extended rest will get them back to winning. The Bills looked terrible in last Thursday night’s loss. Buffalo had 307 yards of total offense last week against the Jets. Maybe the Bills were fatigued or weren’t prepared, but did not look like the same team in the loss.

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor has been solid for the Bills this season. He has passed 1628 yards, 10 touchdowns and two interceptions this season. Taylor is going to have to be special at home if the Bills are going to bet a stout Saints passing defense. The Bills are 3-0 at home this year.

Defensively, the Bills have played well this season. The Buffalo defense is allowing 18.6 points and 354 yards per game this season. If the Bills can limit Brees and company to under 325 yards of offense, Buffalo will improve their chances in this one. Expect the Buffalo Bills defense to bring a lot of blitz packages, but will have to stay focused on the limiting the Saints rushing to less than 100 yards in this one.

Writer’s Prediction:

This game is evenly matched almost everywhere on the field except quarterback. Look for this matchup to be one of the closer games of the weekend. Drew Brees is going to do all he can to lead his team to victory. Running back Alvin Kamara will be the difference for New Orleans. The Bills will squeak out a close home win and cover. Pick: Buffalo (+3)
