Betting on the New York Giants (2-9)

Point Spread: (+9)

The New York Giants season has been nothing but disappointing this year, and at this point they are just trying to have a strong finish to the season, and maybe knock out a couple of other teams out of the playoffs in the process.

This team has really struggled on both sides of the ball, but especially on the offensive side of the ball. They come into this game averaging 15.6 points per game which is 31st in the NFL. With the Giants benching quarterback Eli Manning, all eyes will be on Geno Smith. I really don’t understand this change as neither quarter doesn’t have many wide receivers to throw too and the running game has been inconsistent at best.

If they want any chance to pull the upset in this game, the offense is going to need to be better. On the defensive side of the ball the Giants have had so many injuries, and suspensions that they don’t play with a lot of chemistry on that side of the ball.

Betting on the Oakland Raiders (5-6)

Point Spread: (-9)

On the other side of this match up is the Oakland Raiders who have had an up and down season so far this year, but they still have a chance to make the playoffs, but if they want any chance for that to happen they need to win this game. In their last game they took on the Denver Broncos and they got off to a strong start. The Broncos made a comeback though, and got within seven points.

Derek Carr made a big third down conversion though, and that was enough to clinch a victory in the game and move to 5-6 and only one game out of first place in the AFC West. One of the issues this team has had so far this year has been the play of Carr. At times he has missed a lot of wide open throws, and he needs to hit them if they don’t want to be upset in this game.

One other thing to watch in this game is exactly who the Raiders will have to play wide receiver in this game. Amari Cooper went out in the game against the Broncos with an injury and their is doubt if he will be able to play this game. Michael Crabtree also has a chance to be suspended for this game after getting into a fight. If they are missing either of these guys that would be a big blow to their offense.

Writer’s Prediction

The Giants have made their games they play an ugly sort of football, and I think that will be the case again in this game. The Raiders are the better team, and they will come out on top, but the Giants will grind this out enough that they are able to cover the spread. Pick: New York (+9)
