Betting on the Carolina Panthers (7-3)

Point Spread: (-4.5)

The Carolina Panthers got off to a bit of a slow start this season, but they come into this game having won three games in a row. They just had their bye in the last week, which came at the wrong time as both teams seemed to be really getting on a roll, and they hope they can continue that coming into this game.

In their last game against Miami the offense finally got rolling, something that has struggled this year and to put up 45 points in that game was a huge success going into the bye. The big key in this game, and for the rest of the season is Cam Newton. He has already thrown 11 interceptions in this game. which is very concerning.

Those interceptions has cost them earlier this season, and if he doesn’t start to take better care of the ball, it could cost them in this game. The Panthers should also be getting Greg Olson back from injury in this game, which should give Cam Newton another target that he trusts.

Betting on the New York Jets (4-6)

Point Spread: (+4.5)

On the other side of this match up is the New York Jets who most thought would be the worst team in the NFL this year, and although they have had a little stretch where they had success this season, they are back to looking like one of the worst teams in the NFL again. In their last game they were beat by Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers which had to really hurt because they let him walk after last season.

For the Jets their struggles have been on the offensive side of the ball. Coming into this game they are only averaging 20.1 points per game which is 23rd in the country. They have had problems putting sustained drives together, which has really hurt their chances to have success as of late.

To win this game they need to get to Cam Newton and make him turn over the ball. They are going to need some short fields if they want any chance to pull the upset in this one. If they have to go on long sustained drives, they aren’t going to have any chance.

Writer’s Prediction:

The Carolina Panthers are the much better team, and it will show early on in this one. I think they will have a lot of success on offense, and the Jets won’t have any answer. The Panthers will win this game, and cover the spread. Pick: Carolina (-4.5)
