Betting on the New York Yankees
The New York Yankees extended their winning streak to four games with a resounding 21-5 victory over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday. Didi Gregorius and Brendan Ryan each knocked in three runs in the Yankees’ mammoth 11-run second inning. They became the first team to score 11 runs in an inning since the Rangers did it back in August 2013. The Yankees will look to sustain the momentum of that huge win when they face the Rangers in Game 3 of their four-game series.
[sc:MLB240banner ]Pitching for the Yankees tonight is right-hander Masahiro Tanaka (2-3, 3.34 ERA). He was solid in his last start, allowing just three runs on five hits in 7.2 innings of action in New York’s 9-3 win against the Baltimore Orioles on July 23. The Japanese star is being handled carefully and hasn’t pitched on four days’ rest since he sustained a right forearm strain on April 23. The Yankees are reaping the rewards of that decision as they are unbeaten in Tanaka’s last five starts.
Also helping Tanaka during this winning streak is the Yankees’ incredible run support. The Bronx Bombers have scored a total of 35 runs in Tanaka’s last five outings. Expected to lead the Yankees’ offense tonight against the Rangers is the red-hot Gregorius. He is 8-for-22 in his last six games with one homer and nine RBIs. Gregorious is 1-of-3 in his career against Texas starter Colby Lewis with one homer and three RBIs.
The Yankees are 4-0 in their last four road games.

Betting on the Texas Rangers
The Texas Rangers crashed to their third consecutive defeat with a humiliating 21-5 loss to the New York Yankees on Tuesday. The Rangers imploded in the top of the second inning as they allowed the Yankees to send 15 batters to the plate. The Rangers are now eight games behind the Los Angeles Angels for the top spot in the AL West standings.
The Rangers will look to avenge that embarrassing loss when they lock horns with the Yankees in Game 3 of their series tonight. Starting for Texas this evening is right-hander Colby Lewis (10-4, 4.49 ERA). He is 6-1 with a 4.30 ERA in his last ten starts. Lewis has made nine starts at Globe Life Park this season and is 3-1 with a 4.95 ERA there. He has three regular season starts against the New York Yankees since 2010 and is 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA.
Lewis needs all the help he can get, though, if he is to beat the surging Yankees. The onus is on second baseman Rougned Odor to carry the offensive load for the Rangers. He is 7-for-25 in his last six games with three homers and six RBIs. He has eight home runs and 34 RBIs for Texas this season.
The Rangers are 1-9 in their last 10 home games.
