NFL Survivor Pool Picks Week 8 – Tips, Advice, and Who to Avoid

Your NFL Survivor Pool contest strategy is on point but you don’t want to spend valuable hours researching Survivor picks for the week. No sweat – we’ve got you covered. Below is a look at two teams that our TB News crews feels are good picks, along with a pair of teams to avoid for Week 8 of the 2020 season. Good luck!

NOTE:  Keep an eye out for any possible game postponements or cancellations due to Covid-19 team  outbreaks.  It’s a good idea to steer clear of picks from games that may be postponed or canceled.  Consult your NFL survivor contest rules on how postponed or canceled games are dealt with.  Also keep an eye out for late-week injuries that may affect your pick as these strategy articles are generally written early in the week.

NFL Survivor Pool Week 8 Picks

“See Ya’ on the Flip Side”

Dolphins (3-3) vs Rams (5-2), Sunday

Opening line: Rams, -3.5 points

The week 8 slate looks like a tough one.  You can figure a lot of picks will be on the Chiefs and maybe Packers this week, but we also think a lot of entries will be choosing the LA Rams against Miami because  of the perceived weakness of the Dolphins on name alone.  The Dolphins are in the midst of a massive turnaround from their 5-win form of 2019, particularly on pass defense where the South-Beachers’ young core of DBs is led by Xavien Howard and his 4 interceptions so far.  We don’t like the quality of the Rams wins this year, and they look to be in tough after flying East to take on Miami in rookie 1st-rounder QB Tua Tagovailoa’s debut.  We see this as a close game, but you can gain massive value here if the Fins can pull the upset and all those Rams pickers will be out of the contest.

“Don’t DiNucci”

Eagles (2-4-1) vs Cowboys (2-5), Sunday night

Opening line: Eagles, -7.5 points

Keep an eye out on the injury reports, but it looks like 3rd String, 7th round rookie Ben DiNucci will get the start against Philadelphia.  DeNucci will be in trouble against a stout Eagles D-line that can also bottle up Cowboys RB “Zeke” Elliot who has trouble hanging on to the ball lately.  The Eagles’ offense is also banged up, but they do have QB Carson Wentz and are getting healthier each passing week.  The Cowboys are in disarray while Philly’s arrow is pointing up.  Go Eagles.

NFL Survivor Pool Week 8 Advice: Who to Avoid

“Don’t Buy the Bye”

Ravens (5-1) vs Steelers (6-0) , Sunday

Opening line: Ravens, -4.0 points

We often look for well-coached teams coming off a bye-week as home favorites to smash the unfortunate visitor.  It’s true the Ravens and head coach John Harbaugh have had 2 weeks to prepare for the Steelers, but Pittsburgh is on a roll with impressive back-to-back wins against Cleveland and Tennessee.  These defenses can go toe-to-toe in this matchup, but we trust Steelers QB “Big Ben” Roethlisberger and his offensive weapons a bit more than a great but streaky Lamar Jackson.  Fade the Ravens for this week.

“Had My Phil”

Lions (3-3) vs Colts (4-2),  Sunday

Opening line: Colts, -2.5 points

In what looks like a pretty-even matchup this week, we’ll fade the visiting Colts against a rapidly ascending Detroit squad which has won two-in-a-row and has scored at least 21 points in all six contests so far.  Both teams will attempt to slow down the game and run the ball, and will play for field goals and field position instead of attacking downfield.  We’d lean towards the home team and QB Matthew Stafford (10 TDs, 4 INTs) rather than Colts QB Philip Rivers (7 TDs, 6 INTs), so shy away from Indy this Sunday.
