Betting on the Oakland Raiders (4-6)

The bleeding continues for the Oakland Raiders. They suffered their third-straight loss on Sunday against the Detroit Lions, who beat them with the final score of 18-13. The Raiders basically couldn’t get things going on offense, as they were held to season-lows in total yards (214), rushing yards (50), passing yards (164) and first downs (13).

[sc:NFL240banner ]Furthermore, Derek Carr was only 13-of-25 for 169 yards and the pair of RB Latavius Murray (28 yards on 13 carries) and WR Amari Cooper (four yards on just a single reception) were kept in check throughout the game. The Raiders have now fallen to 4-6 on the year and hold the third spot in the AFC West.

However, Carr and company should feel pretty confident about facing off against one of the worst teams in the league right now—the Tennessee Titans – in their next matchup. Oakland is 4-6 SU and 5-5 ATS in its previous 10 meetings with them.

The Raiders will need to relocate their offense to get the win in this one. Murray is bound to get more touches and be able to have a strong bounce back game opposite a shaky Titans’ front seven that has had some troubles in holding off ground attacks. He currently owns a team-best of 706 yards rushing along with four scores.

If Murray still can’t get his motor going, there’s Cooper and Michael Crabtree to make some noise through the Raiders’ air game. Both wideouts have combined for 1,432 receiving yards with nine touchdowns and have been very reliable targets for Carr this year.

Betting on the Tennessee Titans (2-8)

Marcus Mariota

When it comes to losing, the Tennessee Titans are one of the most consistent this season. The Titans lived up to this when they suffered another setback on Thursday night, losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars with a final score of 19-13. They are now 2-8 on the year and are currently tied with the Browns and Chargers for the worst record in the NFL.

This downfall was quite a tough one to swallow for the Titans, who held a 13-9 advantage by the end of the third period. The beginning of the fourth quarter ultimately led to their demise as they were held scoreless while the Jaguars went on a 10-0 run to complete the come-from-behind win.

The efforts of QB Marcus Mariota and TE Delanie Walker were worth noting though. Mariota played turnover-free football for the fourth time on the road and finished with 231 passing yards while rumbling for 29 yards on five carries with a touchdown. Walker, meanwhile, had eight catches for 109 yards. The two are definitely going to try on building on their respective performances in Week 12.

Speaking of Week 12, the Titans are set to lock horns with the Oakland Raiders this coming weekend at their very own Nissan Stadium. They are 0-5 SU and 2-3 ATS in their last five home games and have also been outscored 114-73 during that stretch.

In order for them to put an end to this drought, Mariota and company would be smart to increase their passing plays for this game since the Raiders are the third-worst team in the NFL when it comes to defending against the pass (290.5 yards allowed per game) this season. That said, Walker will continue to be heavily involved on offense especially if Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter remain sidelined.

Also, defense is something that the Titans ought to improve on if they hope to come out on top. They’re going up against a Raiders team that mainly lives and dies with their passing game (261.1 yards per game), which is the tenth-best in the league.

Writer’s Prediction

Tennessee rides on the shoulders of Mariota to lead them to a thrilling 20-17 win.
