Betting on the Oklahoma Sooners Cowboys (odds)
Record: 13-5 Overall / 8-4 Conference
Oklahoma is ready to teach the Cyclones a hard lesson again. The Sooners took down Iowa State just recently in a 79-72 win at home on Feb. 6 then followed that up with a more impressive 91-90 win on the road against the West Virginia Mountaineers as a 4-point underdog. The Sooners shot 54.7 percent from the field against Iowa State then went 44.9 percent against West Virginia, though Oklahoma hit 11 3-pointers in that game while going a perfect 10 of 10 from the free-throw line. Oklahoma plays tough and honest defense, which isn’t easy to do. The Sooners are allowing 68.3 points per game while committing just 14.5 fouls per game, 11th best in the nation. They don’t allow plenty of freebies for the other team at the foul line, which isn’t good news for the Cyclones who are already struggling on offense. Iowa State had only two attempts from the foul line in the loss to Oklahoma.
Oklahoma is 8-2 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.
Betting on the Iowa State Cyclones (odds)
Record: 2-14 Overall / 0-11 Conference
The Cyclones are still inside a dark tunnel, searching for their way out of an 11-game losing skid. In their last game, the Cyclones failed yet again to snap out of their slump, losing to the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the road, 76-58. This is a team that has not won since the calendar flipped to 2020. The last time Iowa State won a game was back on Dec. 20 when it beat the Jackson State Tigers at home, 60-45. It was a win that wasn’t even worth bragging about. But as dim as their outlook appears for Saturday’s game, the Cyclones can still claim that they exceeded expectations when they covered the spread in the loss to the Sooners as 14.5-point road underdogs. The Cyclones “blacked out” and went 16 of 31 from deep. with Rasir Bolton leading the team with 21 points.
The under is 2-0 in Iowa State’s last two games.
Writer’s Prediction
Oklahoma wins, 78-65.
