Betting on the Oklahoma Sooners 9-1 (-35)

The 9-1 Oklahoma Sooners put their one loss in the past and are now enjoying a 5-game winning streak after taking down the TCU Horned Frogs last week 38-20. The Sooners trailed 7-3 early on, but followed up with a 21-0 run that would sustain through to a 38-14 scoreline at the half. They eased up but still managed to cover with ease as a seven-point favorite.

On the game Oklahoma tallied 200 yards on the ground and threw for 333. The Sooners also won time of possession by a 34-26 margin. The Sooners have officially outgained every single one of their opponents in the 2017 college football season, eight of which have been by at least 100 yards.

Currently 6-1 in conference play, the Sooners need just one more victory to clinch a spot in the Big 12 championship game. And given their 9-1 overall record and help from Week 11 losers Georgia and Notre Dame, Oklahoma is now in the hunt for a spot in the CFP.

Betting on the Kansas Jayhawks 1-9 (+35)

The Kansas Jayhawks won one game so far this season, and that came in Week 1 of the NCAA football season. They are now on a nine game losing streak, although they did cover as 32-point underdogs in a 42-27 loss to Texas.

Kansas expectedly lagged behind the Longhorns early and trailed at one point by 42-20 but refused to let the game get outside the spread. On the game, Kansas was outgained, but only by a margin of 371-364. This was somewhat reminiscent of the game against Kansas State in Week 9, where they actually outgained their same-state opponent by over 100 yards. Yes, they lost 30-20 but covered as 24-point underdogs. This speaks to a 2017 season trend that has seen the Jayhawks going 3-1 against the spread when given dog status at 24 points or more.

Writer’s Prediction

Is 35-points for Oklahoma too much? Looking at overall records one would say certainly not. But there’s a spark in Kansas when they are given such long odds. However, in the end, the Sooners need one more win to clinch that spot in the Big 12 championship game and won’t let up for one second. Pick: Oklahoma Sooners (-35)
