Betting on the Alabama Crimson Tide (4-0)

Point Spread: -28

What can we say that hasn’t been said for the past decade, the Alabama Crimson Tide are a very sound football team. Jalen Hurts is on our Heisman chart as expected, but the real story thus far has been that of their two-headed monster – aka their run game. Bo Scarborough and Damien Harris have been the perfect mix thus far this season tallying a combined 530 yards with nine touchdowns. They’ve been nothing short of phenomenal and will need to be back in the act on Saturday because their stats could get a nice injection.

Ole Miss has the 59th ranked run defense in the country already having surrendered 552 yards, 184.0 per game and six touchdowns. In other words, the Rebels haven’t been rebelling on the grass much.

If and when Alabama get moving on the ground, it’ll free up a ton of room for Jalen Hurts to make Ole Miss pay through the air as well. Last week, California came up with picks and sacks a plenty to steal and seal the win. If Alabama can do the same, this one is over before it starts.

Betting on Ole Miss (2-1)

Point Spread: +28

While we’d love to give some hope to the Rebels, it’s not going to be easy. Generally once or twice a year a team gives Alabama a scare, but it doesn’t feel like this is going to be the week that happens. Ole Miss limped out of California Memorial Stadium last week with a 27-16 loss, but the scoreboard didn’t really tell the story. In fact, the Rebels were close and charging just down by four until Shae Patterson became a little inaccurate through the air and found a navy jersey. That sealed it.

Don’t get down just yet on Shae though. The kid is currently one of the better backs in America and his numbers are jumping off the page considering his team has been so average. Patterson has already thrown for 1281 yards, which is 10th best in division one. He’s averaging 10.5 yards per toss, tied for fourth best in the association and has also aired out 11 touchdowns, which has tied him for 8th on the list. He’s been their bright spot.

If he can pull out the game of his life and toss maybe six touchdowns in this one, Ole Miss has a good chance. If he can’t, it’s going to be all Bama all the time!

Writer’s Prediction

Alabama beats the Rebels and the spread 52-14
