Paris Saint-Germain vs. Chelsea Second Leg Betting Preview

When: Tuesday, April 8, 2014, 2:45PM EST

Where: Stamford Bridge, London

Betting on FC Paris Saint-Germain

[sc:Soccer240banner ]Paris Saint-Germain has been one of the best scoring clubs in the 2014 UEFA Champions League, with an average of 2.8 goals per contest. Unsurprisingly, Ibrahimović (10 total goals) and company are 5-0 this season when scoring at least three goals.

In order to come out on top against Chelsea again, Coach Laurent Blanc will have to urge his boys to be aggressive from the get-go. Dating back to September 17, Saint-Germain is 6-1 in contests where they scored first.

Chelsea has lost only one game at home (3-1) in the 2014 UEFA Champions League –against Basel in the season opener. Meanwhile, Paris is 3-1 when playing away from home. The last time both teams duelled at Stamford Bridge, it was in the Champions League in 2012, with the contest ending in a 1-1 draw.

Betting on Chelsea

Prior to their first leg matchup against PSG, Chelsea FC had allowed only one opponent in the 2014 UEFA Champions League to score more than one goal, which took place in their season-opening loss to Basel.

From October 1 – November 6, Fernando Torres (3 total goals) and his team played three games where they shut out their opponents and outscored them by 10 goals. With Chelsea down by two scores against a high-scoring team like Paris, they will have to rekindle their play from that stretch of their schedule in order to advance to the semifinals.

However, it’s not going to be easy since Samuel Eto’o, who has scored three total goals, is expected to miss his team’s next game. In seven UEFA games where Eto’o has been present, FC is 5-2. Chelsea’s loss to Saint-Germain was the first game the Cameroon national missed this season thanks to injury, and it was obvious they missed his playmaking.

Prediction

With Eto’o unlikely to play, Chelsea doesn’t have enough firepower to match PSG. Paris wins the second leg, 2-1, and on aggregate, 5-2.
