Betting on the Pepperdine Waves (4-22)

Pepperdine is without a doubt the underdog in this Saturday’s game against Gonzaga. For one, they were blasted by the Bulldogs on Jan. 4 in an 89-59 home loss to Mark Few’s boys.  With a 4-22 record, Pepperdine are wallowing in sub-mediocrity (to out it lightly) this season. The Waves are averaging just 70.1 points per game and are allowing 80.0 points per contest. Their minus-10.0 average scoring margin is among the worst in the nation.

It looks like garbage time will come early again this Saturday for the Waves versus Gonzaga, but if they could slow the game down by winning the rebounding battle and cutting down on their turnovers, then Pepperdine may at least have a shot of covering the spread.

The over is 6-0 in Pepperdine’s last six road games.

Betting on the Gonzaga Bulldogs (23-4)

Gonzaga is merely avoiding stepping on a landmine at this point of the season. The Bulldogs are expected to be the favorites in all of their remaining regular-season matches, including this one against the lowly Pepperdine. The Bulldogs have won all of their last 20 meetings with Pepperdine, and based on these two teams’ previous meeting, Gonzaga will sustain its win streak against the Waves. Gonzaga had its way on offense in December against the Waves, as the Bulldogs shot 53.8 percent from the field. They hit nine three-pointer, outrebounded the Waves, 39-29, and had 29 assists in that game.

Johnathan Williams leads the Bulldogs with 13.4 points per game, while Josh Perkins is putting up 13.2 per game.

Gonzaga is 3-0 against the spread (ATS) in the last three games against the Pepperdine Waves.

Writer’s Prediction:

Gonzaga crushes Pepperdine once again, by a final score of 91-60.
