FAVORITES

Jon Rahm (+600)

He’s no longer ranked no. 1 in the world, but being no. 2 isn’t too shabby either for Rahm, who is still seeking his first win of the 2021-22 PGA TOUR season. Rahm is coming off a long rest, as he last saw action in the 2022 Masters Tournament where he finished with a T27. So far this season, Rahm has gone 9 of 10 with 7 top 25s and 4 top 10s.

Abraham Ancer (+1800)

With a PGA TOUR event in his home country, Ancer is definitely hyped up for the upcoming event at Vidanta Vallarta. Ancer is 8 of 12 this season with a couple of top 10s. He’s just 1 of 3 in his last three starts, but again, this being an event in Mexico should be enough motivation for Ancer to put up a great performance. Ancer is also eighth this season in terms of driving accuracy percentage (68.77%).

Tony Finau (+1800)

Finau has been sort of frustrating this season. He’s definitely a talented pro, but has only cracked the top 25 just once in 12 starts this season. Nevertheless, he’s made the cut eight times and is 3 of 3 in his last three PGA TOUR outings. Finau is 17th overall this season with a 62.1 percent success rate in terms of SG: Approach the Green.

HIGH-VALUE SLEEPERS

Carlos Ortiz (+1800)

Here’s what we said about Carlos Ortiz in our 2022 Mexico Open at Vidanta sleepers article:

Playing in his home country should give Ortiz a big shot in the arm, which he definitely needs after missing the cut in each of his last four starts. He showed that he can really turn the heat up when he’s in Mexico with a runner-up finish in the 2022 World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba – held at El Camaleon Golf Club, down in Riviera Maya. If not for his recent stumbles, he would have looked better ahead of the 2022 Mexico Open, as he is just 7 of 13 this season.

Russell Knox (+6000)

Here’s what we said about Russell Knox in our 2022 Mexico Open at Vidanta sleepers article:

After being cut in the 2022 RBC Heritage, Knox rebounded right away, settling for a T21 in the 2022 Zurich Classic of New Orleans. He is now 8 of 9 in his last 9 starts, during which he posted a T6 in the 2022 THE PLAYERS Championship. In his only other top-10 finish so far this season, Knox produced a T7 performance in the 2022 Sony Open in Hawaii way back in January.  It’s also worth noting that Knox is second overall this season with a success rate of  73.35%  in terms of greens in regulation.

LONG SHOTS

John Huh (+17500)

The 31-year-old Huh is only 3 of 13 this season but managed to score a top-1o finish when he snagged a T9 in the 2022 The Honda Classic.

Stephan Jaeger (+17500)

Ranked 197th in the world, Jaeger is only 7 of 18 this season. But after four missed cuts, he managed to play into the weekend in the 2022 Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Writer’s Prediction

Jon Rahm wins the 2022 Mexico Open at Vidanta.
