FAVORITES
Dustin Johnson (+1000)
Not a few were shocked when Johnson missed the cut at the 2021 Masters. Expected by many to be in contention until Sunday last week, Johnson scored 74 in the first round then 75 in the second round in Augusta, leaving him helpless the rest of the way in watching Hideki Matsuyama run away with the green jacket. That being said, Johnson is still the world’s No. 1 golfer, and anytime a player of his current stature plays in an event, you just have to consider him as among the top contenders to win, regardless of the course.
Webb Simpson (+1200)
Simpson earned a nice payday in the Masters, finishing 12th for a $218,500 check. Thats’ a wonderful way to bounce back from a missed cut for him at the PLAYERS Championship, which was the last event he started before the Augusta trip. Simpson, also, is the RBC Heritage champion, as he topped the field with a 22-under-262 score last year at Harbour Town Golf Links.
Patrick Cantlay (+1600)
Cantlay missed the cut at the 2021 Masters after finishing with a T18 at the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play. Despite two missed cuts in his last three starts, Cantlay has done enough this season to warrant a favorite status. He has four top 10s this season, including a win at the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP @ SHERWOOD back in October. What’s more, he has finished inside the top 10 in all of his three career starts at Harbour Town Golf Links.
HIGH-VALUE SLEEPERS
Matt Kuchar (+4000)
Kuchar is another one of those who did not make the cut at the 2021 Masters, but he was playing well before that. He had a solo third at the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play and a T12 at the Valero Texas Open. Kuchar is a one-time winner at RBC Heritage, having won at Harbour Town Golf Links in 2014.
Kevin Kisner (+5000)
Kisner has made the cut six times in eight career appearances at RBC Heritage events. His best finish in this tournament was a solo second back in 2015. He also finished seventh there in 2018 before a 41st-place campaign in 2019 and a missed cut in 2020.
LONG SHOTS
Brandt Snedeker (+17500)
Snedeker, who did not play at the 2021 Masters, has made the cut just seven times in 15 starts this season. But before you completely dismiss him, just know that he won the RBC Heritage in 2011.
Luke List (+17500)
List has been cut twice and withdrew once in three of his last four starts. In the other tournament, which was the Valero Texas Open, he finished with a T17. He has two top 10s on the season and four top 25s.
Writer’s Prediction
Dustin Johnson shows why he’s the best golfer today and wins the 2021 RBC Heritage.
