Betting on the Philadelphia 76ers (odds)
Regular Season Record: 44-21
The Sixers are healthy, and when they’re healthy, they’re pretty hard to stop. And that has been the case for them over their last handful of games. Philly has gone 5-0 straight up in its last five, the last was a 106-94 road win over the Chicago Bears on the road on Monday. During this ongoing undefeated streak, the Sixers have averaged 118.6 points on 50.3 percent shooting from the field, with Embiid leading the pack. He put up 20.6 points, grabbed 8.0 rebounds, and swatted away 1.4 shots in that span. His production has gone down, but there’s really no need to step it up for him with the likes of Seth Curry, Tobias Harris, and Ben Simmons doing their work. There’s a chance that Philly could rest some of their key players, though, against a Rockets team that’s more interested in scoring a high pick than win games.
The Sixers are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games.
Betting on the Houston Rockets (odds)
Regular Season Record: 16-49
The Rockets are a loss away from absorbing their 50th defeat of the season. It has been a tormenting season for Houston fans. John Wall has been shut down. Christian Wood is reportedly unlikely to play for at least the next two games. The last time the Rockets saw action, they got destroyed by the New York Knicks at home, 122-97, last Sunday. Houston has won just a game in its last eight, but that lone victory was against legitimate title contender Milwaukee Bucks, 143-136, back on Apr. 29, at home. In that game, Kevin Porter Jr. went off for a career-high 50 points. He has all the confidence in the world to play his game until the end of the season, with the Rockets already ousted from playoff contention a long time ago. Over the last 10 games, Houston has averaged 104.7 points.
The under is 4-2 in the Rockets’ last six home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Sixers win, 125-110.
