Just when the Eagles looked like they were finally getting it together, their two-game win streak ended last Sunday in a 13-7 road loss to the New York Giants. However, the Eagles had opportunities to steal the win late in the game, but wide receiver Jalen Reagor couldn’t complete either of the two well-placed tosses from Jalen Hurts that would have been a touchdown score. It’s probably safe to assume that Reagor is going to be featured less on the field. Then again, the Eagles are set to face New York’s lousy defense that can make any receiver play like a Pro Bowler. The Jets are last in the NFL in scoring defense, allowing 30.4 points per game. They are also 29th in pass defense with 266.2 passing yards surrendered per contest. Jalen Hurts is reportedly nursing a hurting ankle but it appears he is on pace to play on Sunday.
The Eagles, who are putting up 25.3 points per game, are 5-0 ATS in their last five games against the Jets.
Betting on the New York Jets (+6.5)
Regular Season Record: 3-8
The Jets beat a bad Houston Texans team in Week 12 on the road, 21-14. Sure, the quality of the opposition was poor, but a win is a win and the Jets will take it any way they could. However, they are going to need rookie quarterback Zach Wilson to be better, or at least show some improvement. Wilson returned from a multi-week absence due to a knee injury and went just 13/24 for 145 passing yards and an interception with zero touchdowns against the Texans. It’s not always that the Jets play a game coming off a win, so at least, they have a rare momentum going for them heading into Week 13. They are also playing at home this weekend, giving them another plus against an Eagles team that is only 4-9 against the spread in its last 13 games on the road.
The Jets are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games in December.
Writer’s Prediction
The Eagles win, 33-13.
