Betting on the Phoenix Suns (TBA)
The Phoenix Suns will head to their showdown with the Golden State Warriors with momentum on their side after escaping with a 109-107 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday. The Suns’ reserves came to the fore in that win, combining for 54 huge points against the Hawks. Brandon Knight led that bench explosion, scoring 23 points and grabbing five boards. The Suns will need all the help that they can get against a Golden State side that exploded for 133 points in their previous meeting.
For the Suns to record a major shock against the Warriors, they will need to apply the same kind of defensive pressure that they unleashed against the Hawks on Wednesday. Phoenix forced Atlanta to commit a whopping 20 turnovers in that ballgame. Pulling off that feat will be easier said than done, though, against a Warriors offense that’s ranked no. 1 in the NBA right now.
On the offensive end, the Suns will need to get another stellar performance from Eric Bledsoe. He has been on fire of late, averaging 23.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 6.2 assists over his last six games. In two meetings with Golden State this season, Bledsoe is averaging 20.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists.
The Suns are 6-4 ATS in their last 10 road games.
Betting on the Golden State Warriors (TBA)
Now that was a shock. The Golden State Warriors had their 12-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday with a gut-wrenching 132-127 double-overtime loss to the Houston Rockets. It was a disappointing defeat for the league-leading Warriors, who overcame a seven-point deficit late in the fourth quarter only to fall short against the Rockets in the end.
The Warriors will look to return to winning ways tonight when they lock horns with the Phoenix Suns. They will fancy their chances of doing just that as they have fared extremely well at home of late. The Warriors have won seven of their nine games at Oracle Arena this season. One of those victories came against Phoenix, a 133-120 drubbing on November 14. Klay Thompson starred for Golden State in that ballgame, scoring a season-high 30 points.
After enduring a slow start, Thompson has rediscovered his shooting touch from deep, going 42 of 96 (43.8 percent) from beyond the arc in his last 12 outings. He will be licking his chops at the prospect of facing a Phoenix side that is third-worst in the NBA in three-point defense (38.0%) this season. Another guy who’s expected to contribute this weekend is the red-hot Kevin Durant. He is truly playing like an MVP for Golden State, dropping a game-high 39 points against Houston. It was Durant’s sixth 30-point game of the season. He has been superb for the 2015 NBA champions, averaging 27.7 points, 8.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game this campaign.
The Warriors are 4-5 ATS at home this season.
