Betting on the Phoenix Suns (+4)
Regular Season Record: 51-21
The Suns just keep on chugging along. Chris Paul and Devin Booker took turns torching the Bucks, with the 36-year-old guard putting up 23 points with eight assists, while Booker finished with 31 points, five rebounds, and six assists. The Suns were on fire, so to speak, from deep, as they hit 20 threes on 40 3-point attempts. Phoenix’s offense isn’t as predicated on the long ball as the Bucks are, but now that the Suns got a nice rhythm on their 3-point shooting, Milwaukee’s defense would be on its toes more in Game 3. The Suns could try to launch threes early to see if they’ve still got it. It’s also not good news for Milwaukee that Mikal Bridges has started to become a factor. He scored 27 points with seven rebounds in Game 2.
The Suns are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games after allowing 100 points or more in their previous outing.
Betting on the Milwaukee Bucks (-4)
Regular Season Record: 46-26
Giannis Antetokounmpo can’t do it all for the Bucks. He led Milwaukee in Game 2 with 42 points on 15/22 shooting from the field while pulling down 12 rebounds, dishing out three assists, and swatting away three shots. But if the Bucks were to pull themselves out of their current situation, they’re going to need Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday to be more consistent. Middleton had 11 points on 5/16 shooting in Game 2, while Holiday was 7/2 for 17 points. As a team, the Bucks connected on just nine shots out of 31 attempts from behind the arc. Despite being down 2-0, the Bucks have shown enough resilience before to still win a series. It could be remembered that they also lost Games 1 and 2 of their series against the Brooklyn Nets in the second round as the road team. That’s the same scenario they’re in right now, heading to Game 3 at their homecourt.
The Bucks are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games following an ATS loss.
Writer’s Prediction
The Bucks win, 117-112.
