Betting on the Phoenix Suns (odds)
Regular Season Record: 63-17
Phoenix is just going through the motions, having assured itself the top seed in the West for some time now. The Suns are only 1-3 straight up in their last four wins, a stretch that includes their 113-109 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on the road last Wednesday night. Their one victory in that span was a 121-110 win over the Los Angeles Lakers last Tuesday. Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and Deandre Ayton all did not suit up in the Clippers game and that could very well be the trend for the Suns until the end of the regular season. If so, it will be an opportunity to shine for Cameron Johnson, who’s played well against the Jazz this season. He has averaged 17.0 points on 54.8 FG% and 61.1 3FG% in three games versus Utah this season. As a team, the Suns are 2-1 straight up opposite the Jazz this campaign.
The Suns are also 6-4 against the spread in their last 10 games versus Utah, dating back to 2019.
Betting on the Utah Jazz (odds)
Regular Season Record: 48-32
Utah is in good form heading into its final home game of the regular season. The Jazz have won their last two games, beating the Memphis Grizzlies (121-115) and the Oklahoma City Thunder (137-101) both at home. The Jazz’s offense is clearly peaking at the moment. Against the Thunder, the Jazz didn’t even need Mike Conley and Donovan Mitchell at all to put up that many points. Then again, that’s against a lottery-bound Thunder team. Those two could return to the lineup this Friday to help the Jazz lock up the fifth seed in the Western Conference. They are just a game ahead of the No. 6 Denver Nuggets, as of this writing. Utah defeated the Suns the last time these teams met, with Mitchell going off for 26 points in a 118-114 road win in February.
The Jazz are 5-3-2 against the spread in their last 10 games as the home team.
Writer’s Prediction
The Jazz wins, 119-113.
