Betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh will head to its showdown with Seattle with momentum on its side after destroying the Cleveland Browns, 30-9, on November 16. It was another solid victory for the Steelers, who are now just two games behind the division-leading Bengals in the AFC North race.
[sc:NFL240banner ]Leading the way for the Steelers in this one-sided contest was Ben Roethlisberger, who bucked a foot injury to play one of the best games of his career. Making an emergency appearance off the bench, Big Ben passed for 379 yards and three touchdowns to improve to 19-2 lifetime against Cleveland. Roethlisberger’s passing total in that bout set an NFL record for the most yards by a player who didn’t start a game.
Apart from Roethlisberger, Martavis Bryant and Antonio Brown also contributed hugely to the Steelers’ win. Bryant caught six passes for 178 yards and a touchdown, while Brown had 10 receptions for 139 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Steelers are 13th in the NFL in passing offense, averaging 258.8 yards per game this season.
They will look to sustain the momentum of that huge win when they take on the Seattle Seahawks this coming Sunday. For the Steelers to stretch their unbeaten run, they will need to continue their excellent play on the defensive end. Pittsburgh is fifth in the NFL in scoring defense, allowing just 19.1 points per game this campaign. They will be licking their chops at the prospect of facing a Seattle side that has struggled mightily on the offensive end this year. The Seahawks are averaging just 22.8 points per game this season, 16th in the entire NFL.
It’s crucial for the Steelers that they bring their aggressive brand of defense in this ballgame. The Steelers are fourth in the NFL in the sacks department with 28 through 10 games. That’s a huge improvement from their performance last year when they finished with just 33 sacks – 26th in the entire league.
The Steelers are 2-1-1 ATS on the road this season.

Betting on the Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks returned to winning ways Sunday with a convincing 29-13 victory over the San Francisco 49ers at CenturyLink Field. It was a huge bounce-back win for the Seahawks, who suffered a gut-wrenching 39-32 defeat to Arizona in their previous game. With the victory, the Seahawks moved back to .500 for the season.
Starring for the Seahawks in this critical home win was Thomas Rawls. He rushed for 209 yards – the second-best single-game rushing performance by a player in Seattle’s history – and had two total touchdowns starting in place of Marshawn Lynch. Rawls became just the third running back in Seahawks history to surpass 200 yards in a game, and trailed only Shaun Alexander’s 266-yard performance from back in 2001. He will have his work cut out for him, however, against a Pittsburgh defensive line that’s allowing just 93.0 yards per game on the ground this season, sixth-best in the NFL.
The good news for Seattle is that Russell Wilson is starting to find his offensive groove once again. He had one of his best days as a pro on Sunday, completing 24 of 29 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns. He finished the game with an exceptional 138.5 passer rating. Wilson will be licking his chops at the prospect of facing a Pittsburgh secondary that is allowing a whopping 278.4 yards per game through the air this season, fifth-worst in the NFL.
The Seahawks are 2-3 ATS at home this season.
Writer’s Prediction
The Seahawks edge past the Steelers, 31-28.
