Portland Trail Blazers vs. Golden State Warriors Predictions, Picks and NBA Preview – March 11, 2016

On paper, the Friday night matchup between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Golden State Warriors should be a no-brainer of a win for the latter. However, the Blazers were one of just six teams to have beaten the Warriors this season and could very well hand Golden State its very first loss at home in ages.

Then, check out our preview for Miami vs. Chicago for another one of Friday night’s stellar NBA games worth placing some stakes at.

On Tuesday, the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Washington Wizards in OT at home to snap their three-game skid. The team just came off a grueling six-game road trip – all against Eastern Conference teams – and came away with three victories before faltering in the latter half of the series.

Portland’s electric superstar in Damian Lillard erupted for 41 points and 11 assists against the Wizards, giving him 15-straight games where he scored over 20 points.

Lillard’s had this MVP-like form of late, and his massive production has been instrumental to his team’s playoff push. The Blazers currently hold the sixth seed in the West, but are just 1.5 games ahead of the final playoff spot, which could put them in danger of having to face the Warriors in the first round of the postseason.

Speaking of the Warriors, remember when the Blazers shocked the world as they dismantled the Dubs in Portland, 137-105, in mid-February? Lillard looked like Stephen Curry himself that night as he scored a career-high 51 points. Based on his performance on Tuesday night, he could very well take over and possibly surprise the boys from the Bay Area once more.

In addition, The Blazers have actually been pretty solid on the road. Before that unfortunate three-game slide, they’ve won nine of their last 11 contests (SU/ATS) away from home.

Betting on the Golden State Warriors (56-6)

Trail Blazers vs Warriors Predictions and Picks – March 2016

It seems as if the Golden State Warriors are back to their domineering ways again judging from their 115-94 beat-down of the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night.

Strangely, however, the inhuman Steph Curry had a pretty mortal outing against Utah, scoring just 12 points while dishing out 10 assists. It was more of a team effort for the Warriors that night, as Klay Thompson led the team with 23 points and Draymond Green also pitched-in well with a solid 17-7-5 line.

Golden State also got 53 points from its bench players, including 16 from Marreese Speights and 13 from Leandro Barbosa.

More importantly, the team looks to have fixed its one major problem of late: turnovers. The Warriors turned the ball over just 15 times on Wednesday, compared to the 44 they committed over their past two games combined.

Then again, maybe simply playing in Oracle Arena – where the Warriors have won an unprecedented 46 games in a row – will be enough to exact revenge from their loss to the Blazers last month. In fact, that previous loss may have been an aberration after all because counting that defeat in mid-February, the Dubs have only lost to Portland twice over their past eight meetings (also 6-2 against the spread during that same span).

Writer’s Prediction

The Blazers hang tough, but the Warriors still pull away with a hard-earned win, 123-120.
