Betting on the Sacramento Kings (19-28)
The Sacramento Kings returned to winning ways Saturday with a gritty 109-106 victory over the Charlotte Hornets. Five players scored in double-figures for the Kings who have now won three of their last four games. Leading the way for Sacramento in this all-important victory was DeMarcus Cousins. He scored 35 points and grabbed 18 boards to collect his 27th double-double of the season.
The Kings will look to sustain the momentum of that huge win when they lock horns with the Philadelphia 76ers later tonight. For the Kings to accomplish that feat, they will need to continue their excellent play on the offensive end. Sacramento is averaging 111.3 points over its last four games. They will have their work cut out for them, however, against a Philadelphia side that’s 17th in the NBA in scoring defense, surrendering just 105.4 points per contest. have been the league’s second-best defensive team in January, having allowed 101.9 points per 100 possessions this month.
With Rudy Gay now out for the season with an Achilles problem, the onus is on Cousins to carry the scoring cudgels for the Kings. He erupted for 30 points in Sacramento’s 102-100 win over Philadelphia earlier this season. Cousins is fourth in the league in scoring, averaging 28.1 points per game this campaign.
The Kings are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games.
Betting on the Philadelphia 76ers (17-29)
One team that’s struggling at the moment is Philadelphia. The Sixers are in the midst of a two-game losing streak, punctuated by a 121-108 defeat to the Chicago Bulls last night. They had difficulty stopping Jimmy Butler in that ballgame, with the Houston native scoring 28 points. It was a disappointing loss for the Sixers who dropped down to 17-29 in the team standings.
Help is on the way, though, for the reeling Sixers with Joel Embiid set to return for tonight’s clash against Sacramento. The Process stayed in Philadelphia as he was still dealing with a left knee contusion. He has been a vital cog in Philadelphia’s success this season, leading the team not only in scoring (20.2 PPG) but also in rebounds (7.8 RPG) and blocks (2.5 BPG) as well. Embiid impressed in Philadelphia’s first meeting with Sacramento this season, scoring 25 points and grabbing eight rebounds. He shot 8-of-17 from the field in that contest and went 8-of-9 from the free throw line.
The Sixers are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 home games.
