Betting on the San Francisco 49ers (+2.5)

Regular Season Record: 13-4

The 49ers are still undefeated with Brock Purdy as their starter. San Francisco eked out a 19-12 win last Sunday over the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Divisional Round, with the Niners’ stop unit flexing its muscles. Dak Prescott was not able to do much and even threw two first-half interceptions in that contest. Jalen Hurts is a different animal this season than Prescott, but San Francisco has consistently flattened opponents over the past several weeks. The 49ers finished the regular season sixth with 19.5 points allowed per game and No. 1 with only 297.3 total yards given up per contest. Now that he’s got a taste of playoff football in the NFL, Purdy could have a much more productive outing this coming Sunday. He had 214 passing yards on 19/29 completions versus the Cowboys, with zero touchdowns and no turnovers.

The 49ers are 5-0 against the spread in their last five games in the NFL playoffs.

Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (-2.5)

Regular Season Record: 14-3

Jalen Hurts and the Eagles absolutely demolished the New York Giants last Saturday, 38-7. Hurts’ performance in that game erased any lingering doubts about his health, as he passed for 154 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions on 16/24 completions. He also rushed nine times for 34 yards and a touchdown. With another long week of rest, Hurts should feel even readier for the 49ers game. With AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith leading the Eagles’ downfield crew on offense, the Eagles managed to finish the regular season sixth in the NFL with 236.3 passing yards per game despite the fact that the team relied more on rushing the ball. In any case, the Eagles can be just effective either via air or land. Kenneth Gainwell led Philly in the Giants game with 112 rushing yards and a touchdown on 12 carries, while Miles Sanders had 90 rushing yards on 17 carries. And then there’s Philadelphia’s defense which looked razor-sharp in cutting down the Giants’ attack. The Eagles sacked Daniel Jones five times and intercepted him once. Philadelphia’s stop unit could be bad news for Purdy.

The Eagles are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games in the postseason.
