TV Broadcast: FOX

Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (-1.5)

Regular Season Record: 0-0

Russell Wilson played like an MVP in 2019, given the production he had and the talent surrounding him. He finished last season with 4,110 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. He also had 342 rushing yards and three rushing scores. Although the Seahawks didn’t do much in the offseason to upgrade their offensive line that allowed 48 sacks, Wilson is still talented and mobile enough to find his way out of a pressurized pocket. Plus, Wilson will continue to have a solid receiving corps, led by Tyler Lockett to go with the up-and-coming D.K. Metcalf. The second-year Metcalf ended his rookie season with 900 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 58 receptions. Metcalf’s size and freakish athleticism gave Atlanta troubles last year in Seattle’s 27-20 road win over the Falcons, as the then-rookie wideout had two touchdowns on just three catches.

The Seahawks are 6-3-1 against the spread in their last 10 road games.

Betting on the Atlanta Falcons (+1.5)

Regular Season Record: 0-0

Devonta Freeman is gone, but the Falcons got a major upgrade in the backfield in the offseason in the form of Todd Gurley. The former Los Angeles Rams running back have dealt with injuries before, but he was still productive in 2019, coming up with 857 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on 223 carries. The Falcons expect Gurley to help open up the offense for the team that only averaged 85.1 rushing yards per game last season — good for only 30th overall in the NFL. In the Falcons’ loss to Seattle last season, Atlanta managed just 69 rushing yards, but with Gurley on the team, there should be an increased success on the ground for the team in the season opener. Ryan didn’t play in that Seattle game, though, due to a sprained ankle, so the offense for the Falcons should flow better this time around. Even with the shaky Matt Schaub passing the rock, future Hall of Fame wideout Julio Jones recorded 152 receiving yards on 10 catches against the Seahawks.

The Falcons are 2-0 against the spread in their last two home games.

Writer’s Prediction

The Falcons win, 27-24.
