Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (3-3)
After a Week 6 excursion across the pond and a Week 7 bye, the Seahawks will take the field again this coming Sunday, obviously well-rested. The Seahawks crushed the Oakland Raiders in London to the tune of a 27-3 score. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson moved freely in that game, throwing for 222 passing yards and three touchdowns with only one interception. The backfield ran circles, too, as the Seahawks rushed for 155 yards. Speaking of their ground attack, running back Chris Carson could see plenty of gaps to burst through this coming weekend. The Lions have one of the worst run defenses in the league. Detroit is allowing 139.3 rushing yards per game, third-worst overall. Detroit is also allowing 5.3 yards per carry to opponents, which doesn’t bode well for the Lions, considering that Seattle likes to run the ball to the hilt. Seattle is tops in the league in rushing play percentage (49.45).
The under is 3-1 in Seattle’s last four games as the road team.
Betting on the Detroit Lions (3-3)
If the Seahawks are thinking of running the ball nonstop against Detroit, then they should also be ready to get a taste of their own medicine, as the Lions are coming off a 32-21 win over the Miami Dolphins in which they looked as though they have Barry Sanders on their roster. The Lions covered 248 yards on the ground against the Dolphins with rookie Kerryon Johnson going off for 158 rushing yards on 19 carries. LeGarrette Blount, meanwhile, vultured a pair of rushing scores to go with his 50 rushing yards. Having said all of that, the Lions, unlike the Seahawks, can deal serious damage through the air also. Matthew Stafford has 1,602 passing yards and 12 touchdowns on the season with five picks. He has thrown six touchdowns in the Lions’ past six games without an interception, which makes sense considering the level of talent he has downfield with the likes of Kenny Golladay, Golden Tate, and Marvin Jones Jr. all waiting for balls to catch.
The Lions are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Detroit wins, 28-24.
