Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (2-3)
If there’s such a thing as a moral victory, the Seahawks got one in last week’s 33-31 home loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams. Up against the vaunted Rams defense, Russell Wilson and company found a number of ways to score. Wilson passed for only 198 yards but had three touchdown heaves with zero interceptions. Seattle’s backfield, meanwhile, pumped in 190 rushing yards and a touchdown. Having dealt that kind of damage on the Rams’ stop unit, the Seahawks must definitely be feeling high of their chances of thwarting Oakland’s defense which has full of holes on it. The Raiders are 30th in the league in both scoring defense and total defense with 29.8 points and 404.4 total yards allowed per contest. Running backs Chris Carson and Mike Davis could also have a field day against the Raiders’ turnstile defense that surrenders 127.2 rushing yards per game.
The under is 3-1 in the Seahawks last four road games.
Betting on the Oakland Raiders (1-4)
A week after dumping 45 points on the Cleveland Browns in an overtime win, the Raiders and their offense stepped on a quick sand and got ambushed by the Los Angeles Chargers in a 26-10 road loss. Against the Chargers, quarterback Derek Carr completed 24 of 33 passes for 268 yards and a touchdown but had an interception and was sacked three times for a loss of 20 yards. Meanwhile, running back Marshawn Lynch wasn’t able to take off, finishing with only 31 yards on nine carries. He’ll have some motivation in London, though, as he’s about to face his former team and its run defense that is fourth worst in the league against the run with 129.0 rushing yards allowed per contest.
The Raiders are only 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games as underdog. The under, however, is 8-2 in those 10 contests.
Writer’s Prediction
Oakland wins, 28-26.
